Man, the Hornets really let me down.
9:00 pm – Postponed my after-hours work till after the Hornet got straight-up embarrassed by the Pacers. Like, yo, this is the first national TV y’all are on in months and you let Doug McDermot get 15 points in 5 minutes? I digress.
Started with another 30 minutes of the 80/20 Principle. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to optimize their time.
Basically, the entire premise is that 80% of outputs are produced by 20% of inputs. So, I’ll be trying to examine how to do that in my day-to-day life.
I’m a sucker for unconventional wisdom.
9:30 pm – Shoutout to the big homie @SamWitwer for directing me to https://iwanttobeavoiceactor.com/ — I spent around an hour and a half on the site and have concluded that I don’t need a voice-over coach. I just need to get out there and do it. So, I’ll be updating you on those pursuits.
The site is mainly on getting into the actual acting part of VO. But I think I’ll find my niche in the explainer vids and commercials that populate the internet at an alarming pace.
Maybe someday I’ll be in a Star Wars Cartoon. But my main purpose in trying to start a VO business is to one day graduate from my 9-5 and avoid all pointless meetings.
11:00 pm — Spent time updating and finding the right profile/background pics for my LinkedIn profile. T
hat 80% of useless activity the book was talking about?
Pretty sure an hour deciding on whether having a cigar in my professional profile pic falls into that category.

Note on optimizing time:
I’ve read a few books on the subject of time management. The Effective Executive, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, The 4 Hour Work Week, and now The 80/20 Principle.
All of them have changed the way that I think about how I view my time but it hasn’t been until recently that I’ve been able to actually implement some of the advice given in these books.
Not entirely sure why it’s taken me this long. But I’m beginning to realize it’s better late than never.
Anyways. This week my plan is to record a legit VO demo and just hammer away on Upwork and through reaching out to contacts who might need my services at some point.
The worst that could happen is I waste time and make some beer money. Hopefully, I’ll be able to figure out the 20% that makes 80% of the money sooner rather than later.
